As the Discalced Nuns of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, we have a special devotion to the Mother of God and remain under her protection as we wear her Holy Habit in the form of the Brown Scapular. She is our model for union with God, as it was she who believed and bore our Savior in her soul even before she conceived Him in her womb. We try to imitate the silence and contemplation of her who kept the Word and pondered it in her heart. For the Carmelite, Mary is mother and queen, sister and friend.
We honor her with a candle-lit chant of the Solemn Salve Regina every Saturday, by reciting the Angelus three times per day as a community, and through praying the mysteries of the rosary. We look to her intercession as she guides us on this earthly pilgrimage, leading us to her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
